Manchester United puts cup match tickets on sale first to Official Members and to season ticket holders who did not opt into that competition, with pricing set by lettered Old Trafford categories such as Category D.

Each Manchester United membership buys one ticket; memberships can be linked to sit together, and for ballot fixtures a group must apply together — using separate browsers in incognito mode (not just new tabs) helps in the queue.

For Manchester United's biggest games (Category 1 fixtures against Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal and major cup ties) tickets are sold by a ballot: members get about two weeks to apply and payment is taken automatically if drawn.

Manchester United releases home tickets in two ways: Scheduled drops (announced, a big one on fixture-release day plus one about eight weeks before each match) and Random drops (returns, relocations and unsold hospitality, with no warning).

Manchester United season-ticket holders can sell unwanted seats back to the club for a full refund; these reappear on the official site (usually as single seats) in the days before a game, so it's worth refreshing while logged in with a valid membership.

Missed the ballot for a big United game? It's not over. The ballot is one route, and drops always follow.

Manchester United cup-final tickets are allocated by points among season-ticket holders, favouring the most loyal; members can't buy them. Even for season-ticket holders a final ticket is not guaranteed, and finals are paid for separately.

For members, United loyalty points only help with European away games. They do nothing for home games or Premier League aways.

You need a membership for roughly 90% of United games. Now and then a fixture goes on a wider sale, but it's rare, and the big games always need one.

A Manchester United membership does not guarantee a ticket, but you need one to enter ballots and to buy for most home games. A few home games go on sale to the general public without one: in 2026/27, the Carabao Cup tie against Brighton and the first Champions League home game did. A membership can also be bought during checkout when you have tickets in your basket.

Manchester United members earn no loyalty points just for holding a membership, and members can't buy tickets for domestic away games or cup finals: those are allocated by points among season-ticket holders.

Manchester United Premium Membership costs £70 a season. It gives the same access to men's home match tickets as the Official and Under-16 tiers, plus first priority for new season-ticket sales, discounted MU Women tickets, the biggest club discounts (up to 50% off), a £20 United Store voucher, MUTV access, exclusive competitions and all Official Membership benefits.

Manchester United sells three ticket-buying membership tiers for 2026/27: Premium (£70), Official (£37.50) and Under-16 (£20), plus a Forwarding membership (£30) that can only receive forwarded tickets. You need one of the buying tiers for most home tickets bought directly from the club, and each membership buys one seat.

Every United game gets drops after the first sale, the big ones included. The only question is when.

United's ticket drops come from two places: seats the club holds back and releases later, and returns from season ticket holders. Only watching for returns means missing half the supply.

Manchester United season-ticket holders can forward a seat they can't use to another supporter, who needs a membership to receive it (any tier, including the £30 Forwarding membership, which can only receive tickets); the forwarded seat must still be paid for in full and its location is fixed.

A Premier League away ticket through United is close to impossible for an ordinary fan. European aways are a genuine shot, especially in the early rounds.

Manchester United's domestic away tickets are allocated by loyalty points among season-ticket holders, favouring the most regular attendees; members can't buy them. A Premier League rule caps any Premier League away ticket at £30.

You can buy hospitality straight from United for a few hundred pounds. It's an official route, and a realistic one for a big game once general tickets have gone.

Manchester United prices match tickets by fixture category. In 2025/26, adult prices ran from £37 to £97 for Premier League games (Categories C to A) and from £32 to £52 for cup games (Category D).
