Manchester United Membership Guide: Everything You Need to Know

For most home games, no. A few go on general sale to everyone, like the 2026/27 Carabao Cup tie against Brighton and the first Champions League home game, but you can't bank on it. For everything else you need a Premium, Official or Under-16 membership.

If you want to buy tickets directly from Manchester United, a membership is essential. Only a handful of matches per season will have tickets available without one. Whether you go for Premium, Official or Under-16 membership, each option lets you buy tickets and comes with discounts and some nice perks. If you’re serious about seeing United at Old Trafford, a membership isn’t just a suggestion, it’s practically a requirement.

A Manchester United membership gets you ahead of non-members when it comes to ticket sales. For high-demand matches, that’s the difference between getting a seat and watching from your sofa. Members can also enter ticket ballots for big games and receive tickets forwarded by season ticket holders.

United offers four membership tiers for 2026/27: Premium (£70), Official (£37.50) and Under-16 (£20), which all let you buy home tickets and enter ballots, plus Forwarding (£30), which only lets you receive a ticket forwarded by a season ticket holder.

Official, for most adults. Premium, Official and Under-16 all get exactly the same access to home match tickets, so paying the full whack for Premium (£70) won't get you in any sooner than Official (£37.50). Premium only earns its keep if you're after a season ticket, as its one ticketing extra is first priority for new season-ticket sales. Buying for a kid? Under-16 is £20. Skip Forwarding (£30) unless a season ticket holder is sending you their seat, because you can't buy with it.

Yes! Before tickets go on general sale, members get early access. Every buying tier gets the same access to match tickets, though. Premium's only ticketing extra is first priority for new season-ticket sales. But remember, demand is high, so you need to act fast when sales open.

No, membership gives you the opportunity to buy tickets, but high-demand games sell out quickly. A membership won’t magically get you into Old Trafford, it just gives you a fair shot.

Log in on United's official ticket site when a sale opens. Most go live at 10am on set dates, with a guaranteed release about eight weeks before each game, and the queue is random, so logging in early won't help. For the biggest games (Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal and major cup ties) it's a ballot instead: you get about two weeks to apply, and payment's taken automatically if you're drawn. One membership buys one ticket, so link memberships if you want to sit together.

Not really. Domestic away and cup-final tickets go by loyalty points among season ticket holders, and members can't buy them. For a member, points only help with European away games. A membership alone won’t get you an away or final ticket.
